Meeting Minutes 21/01/09

Thanks to all who attended the 1st club meeting of 2009, a really good and positive turnout lets keep it up.
We discussed at December’s meeting booking two weekend trips for this year one being Celtic Diving in Pembroke, the other Millport marine station Scotland, as well as asking members to collate information to enable us to organise a week’s dive trip for 2010. So far we can confirm;
1. Celtic Diving- Celtic diving has been booked for the weekend 9th and 10th May 2009. The cost is £80.00 for both days diving but doesn’t Inc accommodation. We have sent off the initial deposit and due to a really good turn out at the meeting all but filled the 12 places so there’s ONLY 3 remaining so hurry! A £30 deposit is due for February’s meeting the rest is due at Aprils meeting (date to be confirmed at March’s meeting) if you require further information please email Glynn Divertiger(at)sky.com
2. Millport marine station has also been provisionally booked for Friday 31st July and Saturday 1st August 2009. Last years trip was a great success. Costs are approx £110 inclusive of board lodgings and all diving and air. More details to follow.
3. Egypt Trips- Rob will shortly be leaving us on 5th February for the 1st of his organised Dive trips to Egypt. There are also trips to Marsa Alam South Egypt in April and Sharm El Sheik in November (for more information check out the Aquaventurers web site or contact Rob). Club members always have a great time returning year after year.
4. Egypt Live-aboard 2009- Steve Roberts has booked a week’s live-aboard from the 11th September to the 18th September, diving around the northern wrecks of Egypt. The approx cost is £1150 they need 20 to 22 divers to get it at this price, this includes visa, transfer from airport, food and dives about 3 to 4 dives a day, night dives to. There will also be a guide who knows all about sharks and they will also be visiting the brothers up north as there is more chance to see sharks there. The last night will be at the Hilton at extra cost of £20pp to shower and have a few drinks before flying home. There are approx 10 places left so please hurry! A £100 non refundable deposit is required for this trip. Any queries contact Rob at Aquaventurers and he will pass on the messages to Steve.
5. Coastal Dives- Due to bad luck with the weather last year a lot of our day trips to North Wales and Anglesey were cancelled. But perseverance will prevail and we will try again. Paul Wisse is helping us with tide tables and hopefully able to bring them along to February's meeting so we can look at tides and dates and make plans. We did have a fantastic dive at Cricceth last year which quite a few people have asked about going again this year.
6. The 2008 Christmas night out is this coming Saturday 31st January. Trevor and Paula have booked a table at TSO`S for 7pm if you wish to go for the meal please email Paula on PaulaBunner(at)aol.com by Tuesday latest if you haven’t already done so. For the rest who don't fancy eating we will be in the Rat and Parrot, Williamson square for 8pm you can contact Trevor on 07976 245330 to find us.
7. Diving in 2010 - We are please to say we have made significant progress with plans for a weeks diving to Cornwall in 2010.
8. Next months dive meeting is the 18th February 6pm at Aquaventurers.
